The Sacraments

"The seven sacraments touch all the stages and all the important moments of Christian life: they give birth and increase, healing and mission to the Christian's life of faith. There is thus a certain resemblance between the stages of natural life and the stages of the spiritual life." - CCC 1210

    Sacraments of Vocation

Through these sacraments those already consecrated by Baptism and Confirmation for the common priesthood of all the faithful can receive particular consecrations. Those who receive the sacrament of Holy Orders are consecrated in Christ's name 'to feed the Church by the word and grace of God.' On their part, 'Christian spouses are fortified and, as it were, consecrated for the duties and dignity of their state by a special sacrament.'" - CCC 1535

  • Marriage
  • Your wedding day will be here before you know it. At Light of the World Catholic Church we want to help give you the tools to live a sacramental marriage for the rest of your lives. The process can take about 8-12 months to complete. Below are the steps to help you complete the preparation journey.

    STEP ONE:

Contact Sherwood Owens at 303-973-3969 for initial intake information and to schedule an appointment with a priest or deacon to begin the process and look at a tentative wedding date.

    STEP TWO:

At the meeting with the priest or deacon you will complete the FOCCUS inventory and pay the sanctuary fee.  They will also discuss the rest of the process and determine if you are free to marry and understand the Sacrament of Matrimony.

    STEP THREE:

You will attend a Marriage Builder Weekend which is a great opportunity to grow in your deeper relationship with each other and your relationship with God.  It is a requirement of the Archdiocese of Denver.  Light of the World is a host site for the preparation.  In order to register, click on the brochure below, fill out the registration form and return it to Light of the World.

    The upcoming weekends include:

    May 19-21, 2017 - FULL

    August 11-13, 2017

    January 26-28, 2018

    May 18-20, 2018

    STEP FOUR:

As a couple you are asked to complete a Natural Family Planning course.  That can be a three session course with the Couple-to-Couple League or an individual instruction with the Creighton method.  This step helps couples to enrich their relationship and understand the natural cycles of fertility and infertility.  The Archdiocese of Denver site is: http://archden.org/eflm/nfp/

    STEP FIVE:

You will be blessed with meeting with a married couple from the parish to discuss your FOCCUS inventory.  The couple will review the inventory to help you celebrate the blessing in your relationship and if there are any areas that need to be addressed.  The couple will contact you.

    STEP SIX:

You will be meeting with the Wedding Coordinator to plan the details of the wedding and also one of the Directors of Music to select music and musicians.

Below are brochures to help you better understand the process and give you the necessary tools to live the Sacrament of Matrimony forever.

  • Holy Orders
  • "Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age" (Mt. 28:18-20).

If you are discerning a vocation please call the Parish office at 303-973-3969 or contact Father Michael for guidance.

Please continue praying for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life!
