Divorced?
Married in the Church but now divorced? Want more information about Annulments?
What is an Annulment?
An annulment, formally known as a declaration of nullity, is a process through which the Catholic Church determines that a marriage was not valid according to Church law. Unlike divorce, an annulment does not end a marriage but states that a true, sacramental marriage never existed from the start due to certain circumstances.
How to Begin the Annulment Process
If you believe you may need an annulment, or want more information, contact Deacon Jesse 303.973.0319 or email deaconjesse@lotw.org.

Getting Married at our Parish
Sacrament of MATRIMONY
“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.” Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1601
Your wedding day will be here before you know it. At Light of the World Catholic Church we want to help give you the tools to live a sacramental marriage for the rest of your lives. The process can take about 8-12 months to complete. Below are the steps to help you complete the preparation journey.
STEP ONE:
Contact Deacon Jesse Taitano at 303-973-3969 for initial intake information and to schedule an appointment to begin the process and look at a tentative wedding date.
STEP THREE:
You will attend a Marriage Preparation Program/Retreat which is a great opportunity to grow in your deeper relationship with each other and your relationship with God. It is a requirement of the Archdiocese of Denver. Various programs are available within the Archdiocese, all of which focus on the theology of Catholic marriage as well as important life skills. Marriage Preparation Classes offered in the Archdiocese can be found at HERE and scroll down to the sections titled “Marriage Preparation Classes – Weekday Courses,” “Online Courses,” and “Weekend Retreats & Intensive Courses.”
STEP FIVE:
You will be partnered with a married couple from the parish to discuss your FOCCUS inventory results. The couple will review the inventory to help you celebrate the blessings in your relationship and to facilitate discussion for any areas that need to be addressed. The couple will contact you.
STEP TWO:
At the meeting you will discuss the steps necessary for the completion of your marriage preparation, discuss sanctuary fees, and to schedule a time to complete the FOCCUS inventory. You will begin the process for completing the necessary paperwork to determine if you are free to marry and understand the Sacrament of Matrimony.
STEP FOUR:
As a couple you are asked to complete a Natural Family Planning course. That can be a three session course with the Couple-to-Couple League or individual instruction with various other methods, including Bella Health and Wellness (link below). This step helps couples to enrich their relationship and understand the natural cycles of fertility and infertility.
STEP SIX:
You will meet with the Wedding Coordinator to plan the details of the wedding and also our Director of Music to select music and musicians. If you bring in outside musicians they have to be approved by our Director of Music.
